Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 16 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 premade angel food cake, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 pints blueberries
  • 2 pints strawberries, hulled and sliced

Instructions

  1. In the bowl of your stand mixer with the whisk attachment, beat the cream cheese, sugar and lemon zest until light and fluffy, on medium speed for about 3 to 4 minutes.
  2. Remove the cream cheese from the mixing bowl and add the heavy cream. (It’s ok to have a little bit of cream cheese left on the whisk and bowl.) Whisk the heavy cream on medium-high until light and fluffy. Add the whipped cream cheese back into the bowl and whisk that together on low speed with the whipped heavy until just combined well, about 1 minute.
  3. Arrange half the angel food cake cubes on the bottom of a trifle dish. Sprinkle an even layer of blueberries, using almost half of the blueberries for this layer. Spread half of the whipped cream over the blueberries and gently spread that into a even layer. Top with half of the strawberries.
  4. Repeat the next layers in the same order: angel food cake, blueberries (leave a handful of blueberries to use on the top most layer), whipped cream and finish with the remaining strawberries and blueberries. Arrange them decoratively. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or up to 24 hours.
