Crispy Baked BBQ Party Wings
These crispy baked party wings are marinated for 24 hours with my special spice rub that infuses chili, paprika, garlic and onion. The skin is baked crispy and the meat is fall off the bone tender. If you love party wings, this recipe is a keeper.

Stop settling for soggy wings! These crispy oven-baked BBQ wings deliver a deep, smoky flavor and a perfect crunch that rivals any deep fryer. The secret lies in a custom special dry rub—a savory blend of chili powder, smoked paprika, granulated garlic, and onion. This rub creates a seasoned crust that locks in moisture while the high heat of the oven, on the convection bake setting, renders the skin to golden perfection.
Whether you’re prepping for a weekend game or a family dinner, these homemade BBQ wings are incredibly easy to pull off. Tossed in your favorite sauce or served dry rub style to let the spices shine, this recipe is a guaranteed winner for anyone craving bold, barbecue flavor with minimal cleanup.
Why These Wings Work
- High-Heat Crunch: Baking at the right temperature, and on the convection bake setting, ensures the skin gets crispy while the meat stays tender and juicy.
- The Special Rub: The combination of chili and paprika provides a beautiful mahogany color and a subtle heat that balances the boldness of the hot sauce.
- Healthier Alternative: Enjoy all the satisfaction of a classic wing night with a fraction of the oil used in traditional frying.

Baked BBQ Party Wings
I never met a chicken wing I didn’t like. Deep fried, baked, grilled or smoked, I’ll take it all. But what makes an okay wing recipe and extraordinary one? It’s all in the rub! I love this rub so much that I make a big jar of it and use it on other chicken, ribs, pork butt and briskets. These wings are marinated for 24 to 48 hours so the flavor is infused all the way to the bones. In this recipe, we will simply bake them. - Category: Appetizer, Dinner, Lunch, Side Dish
- Method: Baking
Ingredients
- 4 to 5 pounds of party wings
Marinade
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup of hot sauce (like Frank’s Red Hot)
- 1/2 cup dry rub (recipe here)
- 1/2 lemon, squeezed
Instructions
- Combine all the marinade ingredients until mixed together well. Pour the marinade over the wings and use tongs or gloved hands (the acid and hot sauce might irritate sensitive skin) and mix the marinade into the wings until every wing is thoroughly coated.
- Marinate in a lidded air-tight container or zip lock bag(s). Refrigerate for 24 to 48 hours.
- Line a large baking sheet with foil and a wire rack. Arrange your wings close but not touching on the rack. Allow any excess marinade to drip off the wings while you pre-heat the oven to 325°F on convection bake.
- Bake for 13 to 14 minutes. Take the baking sheet out of the oven and flip each wing over. Return to oven bake for another 13 to 14 minutes, watching closely during the last few minutes for browning. Cook until the wings are slightly brown and crispy at the edges.
- Serving option: Celery, Carrots and Blue Cheese Dip
